Bumble Bee Fondant Car Cake |
This is one of my very first fondant cake. I was quite contented when it was completed. However the weather changed suddenly and it started raining (Singapore humidity is 100% during raining days) and the fondant started to sweat and melt. I was so sad when I noticed my first creation turned sticky, shiny with the black fondant bleeding. Only way to save it - aircon or fridge (must cling wrap)!

These are the steps from sculpting till covering with fondant and installing the windows.
For the Base I actually added a layer of moist cake truffles filling. I realise it can act as a stable base, especially good for tiered cakes.
As for the wheels, it's actually Oreal cookies wrapped with fondant. It was hand-painted with black gel food dye. However that day was so humid that dried half way, leaving only black stripes on white wheels. (I normally need to repaint a few layers to achieve an even black colour. But I love the new faded effect so I did not repaint)
The above alphabets is completely hand-cut without any mould or tracing. Follow me on the next tutorial on how to cut block alphabet. (The name was spelled wrongly but luckily I managed to change it before it dried:))
