SAFARI FONDANT CAKE

My nephew's 2-tiers safari cake for his birthday celebration in school. He love animals, so my sis requested me to design an animal themed, not forgetting his favourite Rio character, Blu. 

These partial 2D/3D animals is much easier to make compared to a full 3D, yet still looked cute and real on the cake.

This comes the most difficult part, the making of Blu. As I don't have royal blue colouring, I tried mixing purple with sky blue and the result was great. In my 1st attempt, I wasn't satisfied with the look. It just doesn't look like Blu. Not giving up, I tried again on the next day and it was a success! This was the 2nd attempt.

After done with the key figurines, below were other accessories that I needed to prepare. To achieve a safari look, I created a woody-look No. 3 and "Lewei". 

For the base,  I started with the dark chocolate ganache frosted cake before adding random white fondant stripes for the top tier and green fondant stripes for the bottom tier. The purpose of not designing a fully covered fondant cake is not to cover the tasty chocolate.  

And, here's my cute nephew at the celebration in school. Happy 3rd Birthday Lewei!

2D Animals Cupcakes

100 animals cupcakes orders for my friend daughter's 3rd birthday! 

She wanted random simple animals design. I trial and decided to go for the above design, simple 2D animals with different colour base. 

Dark chocolate cakes frosted with vinilla swiss meringue buttercream piped in rose swirled.

Attractive two tones cupcakes with small flower fondant topper which she ordered specially for the school teachers. 

In the making... I loved the sheep! Base is made of 4 cuts using small heart shape cookie cutter.

Initially I wanted to make a 3D animal topper specially for the birthday girl. My friend asked her daughter for her favourite animal ... she wanted Nemo instead. :)

SHAUN THE SHEEP CUPCAKES 

Nowadays fanciful decorated cupcakes have become a trend for birthday celebrations. Compared to a normal cake, cupcakes are mess-free (from the cutting) and also easier to serve, especially when there are many guests.

My friend ordered these Shuan the Sheep cupcakes for her daughter's 3rd birthday

Initially I planned to create a fluffy looking sheep to achieve a more 3D effect. But end up instead of creating pieces of cloud-shaped bodies, I decided to use individual small circles which I cut using piping tips and stacked them to create the 3D fluffy effect. The outcome was so cute !
